Criminal/DUI Litigation

If you have been charged with a misdemeanor, DUI, or other traffic-related offense, Paine Law Firm, LLC is here for you. As your zealous advocate, we will aggressively litigate your case and work hard to preserve and protect your rights and privileges.

If you have been charged with DUI in Kansas, it is imperative that you contact our office as soon as possible to ensure that your license is not suspended. Depending on your situation, your license could be suspended for up to 1 year. You have only 10 days following the incident to request an administrative hearing to challenge the pending suspension that automatically results from your arrest. If you contact us within this time period, we will file the request on your behalf, even if you choose not to retain us to represent you for either the hearing or your criminal case.

Business Law

At Paine Law Firm, we will assist you in all stages of forming your business. Do you know the kind of ownership structure you desire? Do you want to have investors in your company but keep control of the company yourself? Are you just getting started and want the simplest organization possible? Do you want to pass your business on to your children or another person?

-

Whether you want to form a partnership, limited liability partnership (LLP), limited liability company (LLC), corporation, or sole proprietorship, we can help you answer these questions and more by setting up the right entity for your needs and providing on-going support for your business needs, from contract review, to serving as resident-agent, to planning for the future ownership or transfer of your company.

Wills and Estates

It is amazing today how many people die without a will; in fact, it is estimated that a majority of Americans do not even have a will. If the unexpected were to happen, more than likely, their property would not pass on to the person of their choosing. Instead, the property would be distributed according to the “estate plan” set up by the state legislature.

-

Do you want to choose who your property will go to after you pass? Do you want to choose who will serve as guardian of your children in the event you and your spouse pass away before they reach the age of majority? All this, and more, may be accomplished by a will.

-

In addition to a will, it is also recommended you have a living will, durable power of attorney for healthcare, and durable power of attorney for finances. These documents are created to ensure your wishes are followed in the event you are physically or mentally unable to carry them out yourself. In the event you were to fall into a persistent vegetative state, a living will is a declaration that allows you to control in advance when you will permit a doctor or physician to end life-support. Through powers of attorney, you may authorize someone you trust to speak or act on your behalf if you are unable to do so.

Civil Litigation

Have you been wronged in some way? Have clients not paid invoices they said they would when they hired you? Is a former spouse not living up to their obligation to support you and/or your children as required by law? Are you being sued by a credit card collector but have no clue why you are being sued? We are here to help.

-

While litigation is not the most-desireable way to resolve a dispute, many times it is the only way. And we are prepared to fight for you. We will be glad to look at your case and develop a game plan that best meets your personal and business needs, even if it means some other amicable way of resolving your dispute other than “going to court.”

Constitutional, Parental, and Religious Liberty Issues

The free exercise of religion is one of the hallmarks of our Republic’s history. It is a cherished right recognized by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and the Kansas Bill of Rights. At Paine Law Firm, we are devoted to protect your right to worship God and preserve your free exercise of that right. We are affiliated with the Alliance Defense Fund and have resources at our disposal to fight for you in both the court of law and in the court of public opinion.
